Lost 2014 Tour: Return to St. Andrew's Priory

After visiting "Mr. Cluck's" I headed east on Dillingham Boulevard, back toward downtown Honolulu.  Because it was more or less on the way, I tried to find the spot where Hurley met Locke in the box company parking lot during season 6.  After circling around Home Depot and running into several industrial district dead ends I gave up on that mission.  Instead I decided it would be fun to revisit one of my favourite LOST locations.

I originally visited St. Andrew's Priory during a full-day Hawaiian Escapades tour back in 2011.  It's a very cool location which was used multiple times in LOST, as a stand-in for Charlie's church, Desmond's monastery, and Oxford.  This time around I tried to get a few new camera angles, and was finally able to take inside the church itself.  As well, a long white limo was parked onsite and I could have sworn I saw a couple of scraggly British rockers behind the tinted glass windows.

Lost 2014 Tour: Kualoa Ranch

For sheer visual splendour the valley within Kualoa Ranch is hard to beat.  The area has attracted many film and television productions including Jurassic Park, Godzilla, and LOST.  In fact, the day of our tour there was a crew shooting in the valley, allegedly for a Shakira music video.  Jurassic Park 4 had also been filming recently.  In terms of LOST there are multiple locations scattered over the property: the Tempest station , Richard Alpert's pre-Island home , the area where Ana-Lucia killed Goodwin , Jughead's tower , the hill down which Hurley drove a Dharma van , the suspension bridge Hurley and Charlie crossed to reach Rousseau , the spot where the Man in Black smashed Jacob's wine bottle , and Hurley's golf course to name a few. In 2011 I toured Kualoa Ranch in a humvee with 3 of my LOSTie pals.  Our driver and guide was a guy named Greg who was actually an extra on the show; one of his appearances was in the Santa Rosa scenes with Hurley.  After arriving ba...

LOST Tour: Crash Beach Hillside

A range of tree-covered hills backstops the crash beach. Their most memorable appearance is probably during the pilot when the Oceanic 815 survivors first hear the Smoke Monster. (A layer of CGI trees was added in the foreground.) The beach is quite narrow. Farrington Highway stretches along most of its length, with the slopes stretching skyward from its inland shoulder. This valley between two of the hills is also recognizable in a few shots. Finally, this shot looking back on the beach from the water gives a wider view of the hills.
